I believe getting older should feel expansive, not limiting. Movement creates the foundation for longevity and includes strength, balance, mobility and flexibility. It is the foundation of a life well lived, allowing people to continue doing the things they love or have the confidence to start something new.
Confidence isn’t inherent, it’s something we create and nurture, but it can decrease as we get older and face new milestones and challenges. I support clients as they navigate new ways to move, breathe, think and feel.
To live with flair means to have a certain amount of panache or zeal, which can be dulled when we are overly self-critical. My goal is to help older adults unlock a kinder, more understanding voice and help them maintain a sense of purpose as they embrace the future with more flair.
If you're reading this and feeling a little unsure about yoga, or if mindfulness sounds like another buzzword, you're not alone! Most people who come to class arrive with similar doubts, but what they find is classes that are designed for real people, living real lives. Most people are simply looking for ways to move a little easier, stress a little less and get more out of each day.
The classes are taught by breaking down poses step by step, so your body understands what it's doing and why. You will never feel like you're simply trying to keep up or do anything that your body doesn’t feel ready for (although you might be surprised by what it is capable of). Throughout the class, you'll be encouraged to notice how you're breathing, feeling and thinking. This is mindfulness. You don't need to share anything with the class or talk about your thoughts and feelings. Mindfulness is a way to turn off autopilot and pay attention to what's happening in the moment.
Over time, people notice small but significant changes in the way they are moving, sleeping and feeling. They find themselves approaching life with greater energy, confidence and enthusiasm for the things they love.
